Welcome!

We are Margit van Kampen and Simone Waltz, and we offer individual and group therapy for adults.

Our location is quite unique, as it is in a former prison. Within walls once built to confine people, we work together with you to liberate you from limiting thoughts and feelings.

It is important to us that you feel comfortable, heard, and have the space to discuss everything openly.

Therapy

You can come to us for therapy for all symptoms such as sadness, anxiety, compulsive behaviours or thoughts, trauma-related symptoms, burnout symptoms, grief, and self-esteem issues. You can sign up if you are 18 years or older.
We use various treatment techniques and fit the treatment plan to your specific needs and wishes. In an intake session, we will discuss your situation and symptoms, and together we will set goals to work on during the therapy. We use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy, among others. We also incorporate e-health modules from New Health that people can follow at home to complement the therapy sessions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that is active and goal-oriented. You engage in CBT with a therapist. Together, you map out your problem, work towards achieving your goals, and increase control over your problems. By thinking together, exploring, and experimenting, you change thoughts and behaviors that are restricting you. This leads to more freedom and reduces negative feelings.

More information about cognitive behavioral therapy can be found at  What is cognitieve gedragstherapie – VGCt.

EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a treatment method used to process traumatic events. When someone experiences something intense and the mind and body do not or cannot process it well, the event itself can lead to later symptoms such as anxiety, sadness, sleep problems, and concentration difficulties. During EMDR, you’ll work through the event(s) in a directed process, resulting in a reduction of symptoms. EMDR can be applied as a standalone treatment, but it is often a part of a treatment plan involving cognitive behavioral therapy.

More information about EMDR can be found at  What is EMDR? – EMDR.

ACT

ACT stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This is a form of behavioral therapy that helps clients to deal with obstacles in a flexible way (Acceptance), so they can continue investing in the things that truly matter to them (Commitment). ACT consists of six different processes/skills. Together, these ACT skills help someone become more psychologically flexible. The goal of ACT is not so much to reduce symptoms, but to develop personal resilience. In ACT, metaphors and exercises are frequently used; this way, individuals develop the various ACT skills in an experiential manner.

More information can be found at What is ACT? – ACT in Actie.

Schema therapy

Schema therapy is a form of psychotherapy for individuals with personality disorders or other long-term issues, such as recurrent depression. Schema therapy helps you understand and change the origins of persistent patterns. During the treatment, the influence of childhood experiences on your thinking and behavior is examined. You learn to recognize your patterns and change them in a way that helps you think differently, feel better, and act differently. You learn to understand your needs and how to address them in a healthier way. As a result, you will be better able to direct your life and improve your relationships with others. We offer schema therapy on an individual basis, as well as in a group setting focused on further strengthening healthy behavior patterns.

Running therapy

Running therapy involves using running therapeutically for individuals with psychological issues or to prevent such issues. It can complement regular treatment and/or medication, but can also be used independently. Running therapy can help manage symptoms like depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout, or fatigue, while also improving physical fitness. It’s suitable for both novice runners and those already engaged in running, as it addresses broader aspects beyond just running itself. Reimbursements and rates

In the Netherlands, all offered psychological treatments are covered by the basic insurance of the Healthcare Insurance Act. This means that every Dutch insurance company is required to reimburse the care (partially).
We do not have any contracts with the insurance companies. You are responsible for paying the invoice and claiming reimbursement from your insurance company. The amount reimbursed depends on your policy. Unfortunately, no health insurer will offer a restitution policy in 2025. However, for those who had a restitution policy in 2024, there is a one-year transition arrangement. For the other policies, you will be reimbursed between 52% and 76%, depending on your policy. More information about reimbursement amounts and conditions per insurance company can be found in the reimbursement overview.

We recommend reviewing your policy carefully in advance and, if necessary, contacting your health insurer to avoid unexpected costs or specific conditions.

To be eligible for reimbursement, a referral from the general practitioner is necessary, and there must be a diagnosis according to the DSM-5 that is included in the insured package by Zorginstituut Nederland (ZIN). Sometimes you may also need to request authorization from your insurance company.

The rates are nationally determined by the NZA. The cost of a treatment session of 60 minutes is €168.94. The cost of an intake session for 60 minutes is €190.88. Previously, all procedures were billed separately, but since January 2022, this has been simplified and only the sessions are charged. Indirect time (such as preparation, processing, treatment planning, and sending letters to the general practitioner) are no longer billed separately but are already included in the rate.

The treatment falls under your “own risk” premium. Everyone aged 18 and older pays a mandatory “own risk” to the insurance company per calendar year. In 2025, the standard “own risk” is €385, but you may have chosen a higher premium yourself.

About us

My name is Margit van Kampen. Since 2008, I have been working as a psychologist, and I still do so with great pleasure. The most rewarding aspect of my work is being able to play a small part in someone’s life and their  process of personal growth.

I am proactive, optimistic, and enjoy staying in a state of continuous development. I believe it’s important to approach things with an open mind and to be honest and reliable in my interactions with clients. For me, building a good connection and creating a comfortable atmosphere are prerequisites for a successful therapy process.

I have two master’s degrees in psychology from the universities of Maastricht and Utrecht. In 2014, I completed postgraduate education to become a GZ-psychologist. I have worked in various practices within both basic and specialized mental health care.

Complaints Procedure NIP

My name is Simone Waltz, and I graduated as a psychologist from Utrecht University in 2009.

I worked in education for some time and enjoyed it immensely. Since completing the postgraduate education to become a GZ-psychologist, I have been working in forensic mental health care for eight years. There, I learned the importance of listening without judgement and how crucial trust is between me and my client.

As a therapist, I believe it’s important for clients to feel at ease and to have space to express their thoughts and feelings. I think that active listening, openness, and humor help to create a comfortable atmosphere in sessions. I’m looking forward to working with you in your process of personal growth.
